Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Sisters of Charity Hospital and Mount St. Mary’s Hospital have all been recognized by the New York State Department of Health as Designated Stroke Centers. This means that these hospitals have both the technology and clinical expertise to most effectively diagnose and treat stroke patients.
In addition to New York State’s Stroke Center designation, Mercy Hospital of Buffalo is the area’s only Comprehensive Stroke Center certified by the Joint Commission. Mercy’s highly skilled stroke teams treat many of the most complex stroke patients in the region.
Because it’s about getting back to
what matters most…
Catholic Health’s rehabilitation specialists, home care nurses, and therapists continue to work to help improve your quality of life after a stroke. Care coordinators help you make arrangements for follow-up care after hospitalization as needed, including home care or admission to one of Catholic Health’s rehab facilities (Father Baker Manor, McAuley Residence, Mercy Nursing Facility at OLV, or St. Catherine Labouré Healthcare Center).
The Stroke Support Group provides a forum to lessen anxiety for those in long-term stroke recovery, and peer group support for stroke survivors and caregivers facing the new life changes in a loving and compassionate environment.
